I'll have a baby in less that two weeks (if it's on time) so my guess is that this year I'll be going nowhere. I might get the odd cheeky weekend in Aviemore.

Yeah you are right Lez, I should probably spend a little bit more time with the family.
Just make it one weekend to Mt Baker ;)

Wow, that's come around quickly Becs! :)

Guess we'll be thinking about Europe somewhere in Feb halfterm, but probably going to be last minute, multi-destination & driving to get there (because flights will be extortionate!)

i know ang! we need to get ourselves in gear, so much to do. i can highly reccomend not speeding through france! i got carried away and ended up with a 90 euro fine. we left the motorway to try and save money on the tolls- ironiocally this fine made it the same price as all those bloody tolls.

Take enough cash so you dont have to work - that can put a real dampener on things :xbeer:

i was 26 when i did my first season. took £6k with me (about €9k at the time) and had a great time, didn't we al
working cleaning jobs on saturday is the least annoying way of working as you only lose one day on the hill and it brings in some cash. but if you can afford it, dont work at all.

dont spend a fortune on new kit before the season if you have some already, having said that if something it wearing out, replace it now. get GOOD travel insurance that covers medical.
sort your acommodation out as early as possible as many just turn up and go flat hunting in the couple of weeks before the season. get your lift pass early as there is often a discount if you buy now.

get fit so you dont puff out and waste days on the hill.
oh and tell alll your friends and family your going and watch them turn green as you tell them your off to go boarding for 5 months

Cheers for the advice lads!

Yeah I've saved enough( i hope) to not have to work out there and enjoy every day as a "snow bum" :D but as im driving out there i thought i may be able to pick up a few transfer gigs to keep me in beer tokens throughout the season as well as the option of a roadtrip or two

Got my bed sorted for the season and my gear is is good enough nick to last (although i want a small jibbing board as ive really never hit the park before and want to give it a go while over there)

Any recomendations for decent/not too expensive insurance??

I got a feeling the next couple of months in the office ar going to drag.......i want to be there now!!!!

transfers  everyone wants something for nothing with transfers. don't get ripped off by people trying to get a cheap transfer just cos your their mate.
remember fuel + tolls + your time. so for a 3 hour transfer (round trip) that's like 30-50 for fuel (car dependant), 20 for tolls (remember you have to come back too!) and then what ever you want per hour so say another 60.
when they kick up a fuss about spending 110euros on a transfer, remind them that they can't get it cheaper unless they use public transport. you have been warned.

oh if your driving, make sure that you insurnace is good for a prelonged stay out of the country. and make sure things like tax and mot dont run out while your away.
