A few of us on here have been Wake Boarding before in Tamworth for the first couple of summer bashes on the old forum.

Good fun, I really enjoy it, but can't say I do it often enough to be in to it.
I would advertise my website, but you're already here!

tried it - was a miserable failure at it

If you want to do it as a business I'm not sure what (if any) qualifications you need, but the guy who took us out was local legend and competed professionally in the sport  He did say that the initial power needed to get a wakeboarder up was more than a water skier, so you'd need to invest in a bigger engine

have a friend who is a boat dealer giving advice on the whole subject of boats and so on and it is a big investment but initially to set up he has said that there are older boats that are in good condition and well looked after that can cost a quarter as much as the full on wakeboard boats to start up....

If anyone finds themselves near dublin in august join us haha!

and what about a "darkwater" section of the forum.... nice ring to it that

i did it plenty of times when i was living in Cambridge. One problem is that it bloody hurts. i'm not sure the human body is designed to get pulled sideways, with your body twisted round. wakeboarders freely admit that they just generally hurt all season. not sure if thats true, though.

The other problem is that you're kinda limited in where you can go: you get dragged around by the boat for 15 minutes, then you get changed and go home. You can't go wandering round the lake by yourself, and you can't just sit down and take a breather.

I've hurt that the petrol for the boats is the expensive part. they do about half a mile per gallon, and you have to have a big-assed engine. even in the US the gas is expensive, so in the UK it must really hurt.

not being too boatly worldy..... i could imagine getting dragged by a boat for that distance probably feels quite a distance.....
