I only know DOAS so if anyone else is there before him I'll be in a silver Daewoo people carrier, wearing a purple top and riding this bike:

Trip report - the short version :

My bike is fab.

Caddy isn't as fit as he thought.

Going over an obstacle too slowly is a very bad idea. I'm still leaking at various bits. Forehead, jaw, shoulder, forearm, wrists, hands, knees and calf all got it - over the handlbars to face slam

Entirely my own stupid fault :crutches:

By my reckoning you

Cut your head
Cut your face
Cut your arms
Cut your legs
Cut your chest
Cut your fingers

Good fun though

I didn't take many pics - I'll rely on Caddy for the post-crash ones...

Meanwhile, my lovely new wheels

After a second run around the top loop, and getting Caddy worried I crashed out (how right that prediction proved to be!) we met back up with Caddy.

Thanks guys for putting up with the "slow" one !!! I had a great time even with being sick and always last.

Mike you need some of these http://activesport.co.uk/shop/article_V ... ml?pse=coa its better to use non-spd when going downhill.

I disagree with that, Paul. I love being locked in to my SPDs downhill, stops my feet slipping off the pedals ;)

Mike - get some full finger gloves first off! :)
At this point we decided to call it a day, and move onto something safer... like the over the blind crest third gear one leg off stand-up wheelie competition.

Nice pics Caddy

I love the spd's - they are staying, but proper gloves, knee pads and elbow/forearm pads are next on the shopping list

What I should have said is I find it better going downhill on the non SPD side of my pedal as I am just getting reaquainted with this cycling malarky after a long time out of the saddle. From Mikes crash and his explanation that he was being over cautiuos ( you know what captain sensible is like ) and it was his slow speed and being clipped in that may have caused his crash.

I see Mike and myself as being similar in our approach to our new part time hobby - slow speeds and spds are difficult for us newbees.

Hey but what the f*** do I know

Captain Sensible...

I see what you mean now... Persevere with the spuds though, it brought my riding on no end once I was comfy with them.

On a hill   One of the last big rollers - took a line too far to the left, didn't have enough speed for it and weight not far enough back. Front wheel went over, and so did I

My 7 year old nephew hit up Carron yesterday,
Give the wee man some props, as he climbed the whole thing, descended it like he'd been doing it for years, and my brother says he was even popping off some of the drops on the Runway getting some air on the way down.

He's probably asleep in the classrom this morning mind, but I'm very proud of him.
